The Swell Guys: One Surfer One Ride A Lifetime of Stoke
Old Wive's Tales

We surfer's are quite a self-centered and selfish lot. All we want is to get to the beach and spend a few hours in the water regardless of the conditions. But what about our poor “Significant Other” who inevitably gets dragged along?

Come on guys, you know what I'm talking about - your poor wife/girlfriend who gets to spend three hours alone on the beach, oggled by strangers and accosted by vagrants. It's amazing that she can actually muster up any enthusiasm for you after what she's just been through!

Personally I hate sitting on the beach, I'd rather be in the water or behind the lens documenting beach life, but hey, each to his or should I say her own?

With that in mind we asked four of our girls to give us their point of view on life with a surfer. So read ahead and see what they have to say, you might be pleasantly surprised!

Oh yeah, for those of you who need your girlfriend to tell you to brush your teeth, just click on the blue link that starts with » below… eejit!

Soheir's Tale

The irony of it all is that I met my soulmate ten years ago in a little town called Jeffrey’s Bay. I was passing through from the Grahams Town festival. The driver of the car I was in wanted to stop and stay over in J Bay as all his surfer mates were there.

Tamlyn's Tale

I guess the moral of my tale is, if you manage to come across a blue eyed, blond haired surfer. BE WARNED! You are gonna go so weak at the knees, you’d put up with anything!

Hayley's Tale

Beach life! Undoubtedly one of the best ways to live! Surf life. Well, it all depends what does it for you. I’ve spent most of my time on beaches around the peninsula and beyond.

Tessa's Tale

Coming back to the same spot 3 times in 1 day because the pushing tide brings better waves than the morning’s dawnie gets a bit boring and doing the same thing every afternoon and weekend to satisfy you boys gets a bit much, but I guess that’s the life and times of a surfer’s girlfriend.
