ANC: Alex, Nick and Chris

Alex, Nick and Chris started surfing back in the day with a few of us. You’d either find them ripping the lineup or chatting with the girls on the beach. The fact is that when you get three guys, each with a screw loose, who surf and live under the same roof you are headed for a surfing overload.

It must be true because when you see them out in the water you can’t actually believe the shit they’re pulling off and I’m not talking about fluke moves either. Each of them has a unique style when compared to the other, which is weird because usually the younger will try to emulate the older - right?

Clearly these guys have different ideas and each decided to go their own way, although when you see them surfing it all comes together.

ALEX MOLDE: Like a good brandy - mellow yet powerful

AlexAlex being the eldest has a really mellow yet powerful style and knows how to lay it on the rail but at the same time can bust some serious air, and he ain’t exactly built for airs!

Out of the water he’s gone from strength to strengh. He currently owns “Liquid Girls”, a surfing magazine for the ladies, and runs it together with his girlfriend Shanon. He also takes some of the most insane photographs to boot.

When he’s not surfing, working or taking pics, you’ll find him flying around the track at Killarney on his superbike or causing some serious chaos on the highways in and around the Cape.

He’s a good guy, though full of shit sometimes but always makes you laugh, just about the only thing that did rub off on his two younger brothers.

CHRIS MOLDE: Like a good teacher - low key

ChrisChris on the other hand is more low key. So low key in fact that we couldn't get a decent portrait of him. You’ll find him passing on the skills that he’s learnt down at the beach through Surf Coaching. He reminds me a bit of Robocop, not because he has no brain or is built like a tank but because watching him surf is almost mechanical.

Like a well lubricated machine, Chris is the perfect text book surfer. The guy throws full sequence maneuvers and links them up so perfectly. In other words this guy will have your ass waxed in a heat format.

NICK MOLDE: Like a good explosive - blows up at will

NickNick is the youngest and probably the most radical. He's the exact opposite of his brothers in terms of temperament.

Besides being super consistent he seems to just blow up at will and can spit out everything from turns to airs to barrels.

Surfing is what makes this guy tick so when he’s in the water its 110%. He also looks kinda crazy, somebody say Rittelin?

Conclusion

Come hell or high water these guys have one thing on their minds – making the most of the waves, so if you ever get the chance to see them in the backline, sit back, relax and enjoy the show - you may just learn a trick or two!
